connection. This information is based on the experiences of the District 6 Emergency Animal Shelter at the LSU Agcenter’s Parker Coliseum in Baton Rouge, LA following Hurricane Katrina. This manual was compiled by Susan K. Mikota DVM. The website was designed and is maintained by Hank Hammatt. Katrina in 2005. Much was achieved, though all involved would agree
that the scope of the disaster resulted in considerable chaos amongst both
caretakers and owners. The goal of this website is to help plan for
pet care and return of pets to owners after future disasters.
